In 2023, with your help, Rowan Branch purchased a Transcranial Doppler (TCD) machine for the sickle cell program which will help detect stroke risk in pediatric patients. Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) account for the largest share of pediatric stroke. More than 1 in 10 children with SCD are at risk of stroke, which can seriously impair physical, academic, emotional, and social function, and increase the risk of additional strokes and death.
