Pediatric Hematology Department Transcranial Doppler (TCD) machine

Total net proceeds goal
$80,000+
Our goal is to purchase a Transcranial Doppler (TCD) machine for the sickle cell program. Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) account for the largest share of pediatric stroke. More than 1 in 10 children with SCD are at risk of stroke, which can seriously impair physical, academic, emotional, and social function, and increase the risk of additional strokes and death. The state-of-the-art TCD machine we hope to fund detects the risk of stroke in children with SCD - saving lives and vastly improving quality of life.

In 2022 Rowan Branch raised money for the Pediatric Neurology Program which provides world-class care for brain, spinal cord and nerve conditions. With your help, we gifted the department an Ambulatory EEG Machine, Telehealth cameras and headsets so that doctors can communicate with patients at home, as well as Ophthalmoscopes and Otoscopes for exam rooms.
