off premises for this diagnostic exam.
Cystic Fibrosis Center:
Funds raised were used to purchase equipment and train staff to
assist children in developing techniques to enhance their breathing,
clear their air passages and deal with other quality of life
obstacles.

and in the care of the pediatric experts within minutes.
Gene Therapy/Bone Marrow Transplant:
This program cured the first child in the country of the blood
disorder alpha thalassemia major.
Ferritometry Center:
Ferritometry
is a safe non-invasive, pain-free alternative in assessing patients
with sickle cell anemia and thalassemia who suffer from iron
overload disease. Ferritometry replaces the liver biopsy procedure,
which is invasive, painful and risky.
Hall of Health:
A hands-on educational health museum for children.
Family House:
A "home away from home" located across the street from Children's
Hospital Oakland where families of hospitalized children can stay
while their child is receiving care.
Family Education Center:
Patients and their families can utilize books, the Internet, VCRs
and closed circuit television to learn about their illness and
treatment.
Faces of the Future:
Internship program in health sciences for underserved youth.
Operating Room Equipment:
Equipment for the new state-of-the-art pediatric neurology and
trauma operating rooms.
Katie's Clinic for Rett Syndrome:
The creation of a clinic without walls for children with Rett
Syndrome.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ("PICU") Equipment:
A wide array of much needed equipment, such as a High Frequency
Oscillator and a noninvasive ventilator which allows doctors to
avoid the pain and potential injury of intubation in many patients.
